Gipronickel Institute - St Petersburg

The Gipronickel Institute is the scientific centre of MMC Norilsk Nickel located in St Petersburg.  It is one of the largest design and scientific research organisations for Russian non-ferrous metals.

The Institute undertakes scientific research and is involved in the development of construction projects for metallurgical beneficiation and chemical plants for enterprises that extract and process mineral resources.

• The mining laboratory specialises on feasibility studies and deployment of new mining technologies and equipment.

• The geological and technology laboratories specialise in studies of material composition of minerals and develops modern beneficiation and efficient technologies for non-ferrous and precious metals.

• Other technologies include:

  •   pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical and carbonyl studies.

• The analytical laboratories focus on developing standard compositions of nickel, cobalt and copper that are used for special analysis of commercial ready products.
